People with developmental disabilities and their families have repeatedly told us Ohio's waiver waiting list is overly complex and in need of simplification. It confuses people with developmental disabilities and their families, misleads advocates, and hinders efforts by policymakers to direct resources to where they are needed most.
It’s time to Fix The List.
What Are We Waiting For?
In 2014, the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center under sponsorship of the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council examined Ohio's waiting list and produced a study which included the results of their extensive research. This study was the first of its kind in Ohio and has been used to inform our decisions as we Fix The List.
Waiting Lists for Medicaid Waiver Programs
In 2017, the National Association of State Directors of Developmental Disability Services produced a report based on their findings from an environmental scan of Ohio's waiting list management process. This report prompted important discussion and has been used as a valuable resource as we have worked to
Fix The List.
